Antioxidants are essential in life, as they keep you looking youthful from the inside out. I wanted to discuss some of the benefits antioxidants have and what exactly they are. They are crucial to a healthy lifestyle and many other things so lets get started.

Antioxidants are vitamins, minerals, and enzymes that help prevent oxidation and reduce cell damage caused by free radicals. By preventing damage to your cells, antioxidants can reduce the risk of cancer, but also can improve the way you skin looks and feels. 

Oxidation is a natural process that happens to everyone. Because its natural, a diet rich in antioxidants is necessary to keep the levels of free radicals in your body low and maintain good health.

Other benefits include firming the skin, fighting inflammation, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and treating scars.

The most important antioxidants for skin include vitamin A, C, and E, selenium, coenzyme Q10, alpha-lipoic acid, along with flavonoids that are usually ingested through green tea or dark chocolate.

Antioxidants are present in fresh foods and vegetables, as well as whole grains. Fruits and veggies that have bright, distinctive colors, such as red tomatoes, purple blueberries, yellow corn and orange carrots, are rich in antioxidants.
